The Park

In the swing-

Her eyes met mine,

smiled, then quickly shifted away. 

She saw all that was behind me, as I saw all that was behind her. 

I gave her a good push.

We heard the birds in the trees, the people on the street, the mower on the lawn, talking, squawking, and making noise nearby. 

She tilted her head back, little fingers grasped tight to the edge of the swing, tiny shoes dangled without worry, eyes closed as the sun gently kissed her eyelids.

Wind, momentum and a cautiously content smile made time stop...and the world disappeared.
